I know you aussie guys love tech gadgets. You got your bullbars, and your double battery setups, long range fuel tanks, all types of cool stuff that isnt as popular here in the us.
But for those of you running alot of lights, and other electronics, have you found a better way to power them.
I would love to get a high amp altenator for this truck down the line, but no one in the united states offers one for the montero as far as I can see.
The Pajero has a bit more popularity by you guys, so I was wondering if any one offered a bolt in altenator for the v6 with a little more balls.

Dougie, our alternators are 75 amps, later Gen 2 Pajs are 90 amps, Gen 3 are now up to 100 amps.
Mitsubishi is one of the biggest suppliers of alternators to the automotive industry so there are heaps to choose from.
If my 75 amp alternator craps itself I'll bung in a 110 amp from our current V6 Magna, I've been told it's virtually a bolt in fit. The cost would be about the same anyway.
I guess you have to search around and research whats available in your neck of the woods, first would be a direct bolt in higher amp unit then probly a custom built one with a higher rating I would imagine. A good start is to check out late model Mitsu sedans and see what they have.
I haven't had any trouble with mine with respect to running fridges/camping gear and recharging times so it seems adequate.

You wouldnt happen to know what US name the Magna has would you? Maybe a picture so I could figure out what they call it over here, if they even to carry it over here.

I think it is sold as the Diamante in the US.

Mines a 90 Amp. I've had no problems with it yet. I agree with Frank, if it stuffs up the way to go is the Magna (Diamante) unit. It is bloody near as expensive to get an alternator repaired as to go to the wreckers and get a good unit of a late model car, and there are a number of late model Magnas starting to appear in the yards.
I don't actually think I will have any problems but it pays to think ahead.
