fuel going stale
What is a good fix for this? The truck sits round for a month to a couple months between drives. Its a v8 petrol and runs like rubbish when fuel gets a bit old. Aside from draining the tank each time which will cost lots and is a major pain to do, is there any solution to the problem? Additive? Obviously drive it more but I cant with work. Thanks.
Re: fuel going stale
There is speculation that Higher quality Fuel - Premium with the higher octane will keep fresh longer. Premium also has more detergent. probaly petrol looses it's octane rating and takes in some moisture over time

Re: fuel going stale
I use Stabil. It is awesome stuff.
Just pour the required amount into the tank.
Cheers,
Micko

Re: fuel going stale
If you are using ethanol unleaded this will be a problem. Stick with non-ethanol unleaded, which might mean switching to premium depending on where you live.
There's still plenty of non ethanol 91 around sydney/newcastle. That's all I use. Ethanol is ok, but only if you are using a shit load of fuel, and fill up at least once a week.
I'd avoid ethanol in small engines, mowers etc, as well as dirt bikes. Even if you regular ride, some bikes are still coming with ethanol incompatable o rings.

The worst part about being told you have Alzheimer's, is that it doesn't just happen once.
