so the noise is there in 4x4 only and not in 2wd
and is the noise there in a straight line or at full steer and is it every now and then or just when under load?

noise

Post by Roctoy »

regrease all yer uni's aron.

mine makes some horrible noises when coasting along in high range 4wd on dirt roads, everyone keeps telling me it's the uni's because of the driveshaft angles.

Its not the sliding spline in the front drive shaft is it?
When I first bought my wreakage the front drive shaft spline was stuffed(previous owner can't have liked grease on their hands) I'd be in 4wd then there would be a horrible bang then nothing followed by another horrible bang.
Problem sorted....Replaced with box section!!!!! Vibrates at about 60kph, I can cope with that

boots

Post by maty »

be careful not to overfill the boots with grease, at high speed the grease heats up expands and bursts the boot - had it happen to me...take care
