Will 80 Series brakes (caliper/discs) bolt onto a Hilux/Bundera axle ??
I know the 92 on 80 ran 16" wheels because of the brake upgrade.
Basically are there other Toyo options instead of the Hilux brakes (if their better) that will bolt up and still run a 15" rim.
Engineers luv brake upgrades................................. Basically I'm using a Bundera axle but was gonna upgrade to the Hilux vented discs which I'm told bolt straight on but is there an even better option ??

I had v6 forrunner callipers on 60 series front discs (with 35 inch rubber) Lux has larger callipers than 60 (32mm piston x 4) 4 runner v6 has 4 x 45mm as does the 80 series. Then you can run the 80 series booster and master (same bolt pattern for the firewall) to make the pedal effort easier.
The only part of an 80 brakes that wont fit under a 15 inch rim is the rear callipers of the 93 or later models, so if you were thinking of a whole late 80 front diff transplant, you could run 15's no prob.

So what your saying is to get the 80 Series front calipers (45mm x 4) to run with the Hilux vented rotors and they will bolt straight on ??

Close, the v6 forrunner callipers have thesame size pistons as the 80 but the 4 runner calliper mounts bolt up to the 60/lux vented swivels, 80 callipers wont. i ran these 4 runner callipers with an 80 booster/master for excellent braking with 35's on my 60
I can see how this is hard to follow
Callipers that will bolt straight on are
60 series/early 75 (2x35,2x22)
75 series 90 on and lux 90 on (vented and same calliper) (4x35mm)
v6 runner (4x45mm)
Ok now I think I've got it.
With the Hilux vented rotors use the V6 4 Runner calipers (4x45mm) which are larger than the Hilux ones (4x35mm) and will bolt straight on.
The 80 Series calipers are the same size as the V6 4 Runner ones (4x45mm) but will not bolt up to the Hilux vented rotors.
So a good upgrade for someone with a Hilux (vented rotors) is to fit V6 4 Runner calipers.
So thats about the best that can be done :- Hilux vented rotors + V6 4 Runner calipers.........................
Shadow, i paid $120 for the pair of callipers at a sydney cruiser club swap meet. I put them straight on with a pair of tinsnips to the backing plate.
Then the pedal was low, so i put a booster/master off an 80 on the 60 aswell. Heaps better. I was in the middle of a rear disc setup on a dummy diff, when i decided to upgrade to an 80, so i had machined the rear of a cruiser hub to accept the solid hilux front disc, used hilux front studs to hold it there, and was trying to adapt falcon rear callipers (i hear here, that the subi front calliper is better)
Anyway, brakes were that much better that it didnt happen in time (i was slack) and it all went with the cruiser.
