Body:chassis flex (re sliders)

Gonna make some sliders for the Maverick this week, just wondering how much you guys reckon the body flexes on the body mounts.

The reason I ask is I am not sure how much gap I really need between the "arms" that go from the chassis to the sliders and the seam under the body sills.

I was thinking 5 to 10mm would be plenty but maybe I am understimating how much the body moves on its mounts.

Whatcha reckon?

yeah u had bout 10mm on the set i have on mine ATM and after a few good drop offs onto them they have hit the seam a few times but they came back 2 where they were originally,

the dint in the seam is not really noticable unless u know its there. if its a concern 4 u leave 20mm

What I did was build my sliders with a full length tube running along the body seam so when the sliders flex up the load is spread accross the whole bottom of the cab. I left about 10mm clearance between the two.

i made mine about 10mm and havent had a drama. mine are supported in 3 spots and braced to the chassis.

10mm was fine on the 80 for the LHS, but the $%^%#$flexes more on the right!!! I had to space it out slightly, better check the mounts for cracks.

The 50x50 sits under the sill, and the tube sits flush with the tyre. they'll take the weight of the vehicle without touching the body. They're supported using ARB u-bolts
