Tachometer Installation questions

Post by captahab18 »

How difficult is it to install a tacho to my 73 fj40?

On a scale from 1 (easiest) to 10 (hard) where does it fit in there?

I don’t need any special tools do I?

What brand or model of tach are you guys using and where did you get it….and can you remember what you paid for it?

How long did it take to install?

Where inside the cab did you mount it? If you have them, PICTURES would be great!!

Thanks,

-Ahab

should be fairly easy with a petrol

ya just take a reading from the spark i believe or maybe crank angle sensor

as for where to put it, try mounting it on the turret, but you cant drill into the steel of the turret (not in qld anyway)

for petrol cars another wire goes the -ve on the ignition coil.

and there is usally one more for the light inside the tacho.

diesel generally rub if the injector pump. but you need to buy a tachometer to suit a diesel in this instance.
