Can a 3.5l V6 be tuned not to ping on ULP? Using PULP

Post by Adomw »

Lads,

My 3.5l Quad Cam goes like whale poo off an iceberg when you run it on PULP, but pings and carries on on ULP at low revs with wide throttle openings.

Can they be tweeked to not ping on ULP???

Nope, mine says 91+ RON, on the inside of my peti lid. ;)
I just finished a tank of BP ultimate, and atm, im running ulp from MOBILE, and so far, she's running sweet as, but i think a little less responsive, so i may go back to pulp for good after this tank.

I thought when you changed to different rated fuel it took a couple of kays for the engine to change the timing by itself, it doesent happen straight away.
EG most cars nowdays will change timeing etc between city driving and highway driving (mainly on long trips).
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY....

Tonka,

Inside my petrol flap is says " Premium Unleaded only" and I'm pretty sure that it can't adjust down to ULP as I (or should I say my Wife) filled up on ULP and it pinged down low for 500ks

I am happy to run on PULP as $20.00 worth of PULP takes me about 15% further that $20.00 of ULP

But at $1.15 p/l for the yellow stuff - it hurts especially when I operate the thing at throttle position number 2 (wide open)

Yeah Adomw, i had a feeling urs might say that.
Maybe cause mines a 96, they fixed the timing etc to run on the lower octane fuel.
I agree with u bout the thirst, foot to the metal=a quick empty tank!!

Anyway regardless, im goin back 2 pulp, cause the power is definatly down on ulp.
I'll just cover my eyes at the price of it, and hope for the best :?

Shit, both of u beat me, i got about 360 km's to my last tank of bp ultimate. I'd be very happy with even 400, let alone 440, but i suppose i do have a fairly heavy right foot :? .

I think mine might need a bit of a tune too, the idle is slightly rough sometimes, so i'll judge after that.
