tray makers in melb?
g'day everyone, i'm thinking about buying a new gu ute and am wondering if anyone knows of any tray makers in or around melbourne, i'm not sure whether i'll get a custom made or standard run of the mill, any advice/ideas would be apreciated, thanks
Veh Quip in Ferntree Gully did an absolutely snesational job on the tray for my GU. They've made both mine and Steve Booth's (see the white (now red) GU that has done a lot of the OBCs and other winch challenges).
On mine, they were happy to work with Brown Davis to incorporate the CAMS approved rollbar into the tray design and were willing to sit down and work through the design process with me rather than state up front what they would /wouldn't do.
There are a couple of things that I'd possibly change on mine but they were things that I originally asked for so can't blame anyone but me
There's some photos of my GU quite a few pages into the For Sale section if you want to get an idea of what they made for me. I'll also try to get some tray only photos.
My basic requirements were:
1) high mounting from the chassis (can't remember exact height) to match the body lift and allow a 38.5 x 11 Bogger to tuck in between the tray and the chassis rail
2) rear lights to be mounted in a solid C section channel for protection
3) Dual front beams to allow for the rollbar to be mounted to the tray but allow the tray to be removed without having to remove separately remove the rollbar
4) Possibility of integrating an airtank into the tray frame or the rollbar
Hope that helps.

I'm not very good looking, so I guess I better be useful . . .
It was heapps of pages back because I went overseas with work about 1 month ago and have been too busy trying to catch up with everything that I haven't had a chance to update the ad. Not sure what is going on with the photos but the thread is located at:

If the photos are still not working later this evening I will upload them again.

Price is still the same (need to cover the payout on the lease) but have put on slotted DBA rotors since I posted the add and would be prepared to include the high mount bar, the 4" kit (including the Koni shocks) and any other spares I might have lying around.
There is a couple of small marks on the paint work from where sticks have kicked up but the car has never been entered in comps and is really tidy overall.
I'll post a couple of photos in this thread.
