It requirers a solid spacer machined up then shim bearings to correct preload. I set up all my diffs like this colaspable sleeves have problems of the allowing the pinion flange to come loose when you work them hard.

a word to the wise: if you're not set up for diff work and don't have any experience with them, pay someone else to do it. it's easy to get wrong and frusatrating and very time consuming if you don't have the right gear (pullers, press, dial gauge, torque wrench, bearing blue, side adjust nut pin wrench etc) - an overhaul will cost about $300 - $400 including bearings, seal and labour, and you get a warranty, if you do it yourself and muck it up you only get to pay someone later to fix it for you.

imho it is one of the few jobs that it just doesn't pay to do yourself.

if only I would listen to my own advice... I am doing some plumbing for a temporary bathroom and I'm in way over my head... who would have thought those tinly little copper pipes could have so many leaks when you turn the water back on!

new respect for plumbers, maybe they're not such theives after all...
