Chris any chance you could scale those GIGANTIC pics down to a more managebale size. Whilst I appreciate the life size pics making it easier to read the wiring diagrams it may be a little excessive

more has been done since these pix, but I wasnt there to take any more pix......as far as I know, fuel system is close to finished.
his brothers exploding radiator put us both out of kilter for a bit, but things are starting to happen again, should be more info after friday...christover

lots of work has been finished, wiring, fuel lines, plumbing etc, but not much shows in photos, but it shows project is still alive. christover

yeeeee haaaaa
I just got the word from Joey. The new project went on its maiden voyage, today, Sunday, up, then down the driveway..both ways, just way toooooooo exciting

and apparently hand brake alone, aint enuff to stop it, and he nearly drove it thru the garage door....now that would be embarrassing

I aint got no more pix yet, camera batteries went flat. More photos to come after his holiday. christover

Hey Chris the transfer case appears to be pointing downwards at the back - is that right? I know you want the rear diff to point towards the x-fer, but won't that angle mean that the front drive shaft has a lot of work to do?

It wont be to bad becuase the front shaft is mega long on Joeys truck.

But if the back of the tranfer case is pointing down, then the front must be pointing up - surely that is going to be a bad thing right?

front will be a two section unit, so any angle will be easy to attain. ie centre bearing type, with the standard front shaft and a modded joiner shaft.

Yes I can . I just did :roll:

Ask anyone that owns a frequently used and abused vehicle with a driveshaft that runs one .. they tend to chew up the centre bearing resulting in a very wobbly shaft .. i am sure Joey has thunk of all this and is OK with it ..

To me its an extra set bearings, universal joints etc ..

makes sense about extra things to go wrong, but I think the main objective was a standard tailshaft with close to standard drive angle, so parts down in the dirt and rocks are easily replaced...the modded shaft will be up out of harms way. the centre bearing is off a common vehicle, but cant remember what :oops:

track rod fitment has started, a shackle type end with a hyme? joint and spring bushes to mount to the diff end, triangular for strength.

The day two shots, nearly a track rod ready for painting. Yes cable internet is cooool

In the finished article, the rear brake line will run down the top of the track rod, safely out the way, we hope. A hard line mostly, with flexible hoses top and bottom of track rod. It all looks good in theory and on garage floor test, we hope it works good in the bush :cool:

A Finito Pretty Blue Track Rod ..note the rear brake line going down the top side of track rod/bar.
All the bushes are standard zook spring bushes, easier for replacements, etc.
Shackle is simple U channel, same as used for the spring shackle extensions (for off road use only of course)

Flexible brake lines are custom, but I am sure something off the shelf could work, too.
A good view of the custom rear tail shaft, too. It is basically a cut down, modded hilux shaft. (In the SWB the engine twisted the yoke until it broke, so he had to make a stronger one) There seems to be no prob with the front shaft, tho.
