increasing width

Post by killalux »

does anyone know wat the rules are in qld regarding increaseing the width of a vehicle.
was lookin at using a leaf gq front diff which is 100mm wider then standard hilux and ifs rear which would be 25mm narrower then the gq, and maybe using 12mm spacers on back to even it out.
front tyres will be covered by fiberglass flares and scrub rails.

I wouldn't have a clue what the rules are, but I bet they would suck badly.

What would it be worth to build an all out machine as an Individually Constructed Vehicle? The amount of those weird Harley trike thingys around has me wondering about this.

i was thinking the same thing, dirty old MQ snot!!

As far as i know it is illegall to widen the wheel track, you can do it with rims to a max of 20mm. i could be wrong.

ah k. wouldnt the old lockers help finance the newwies?

wheel spacers are illegal so thats another thing to think of if you take the GQ / IFS rear option.

im goin with nick on this one. think its around 15-20mm.

put the bigger diffs in with bigger tyres

your right they do, they also have different axles, bearings and brakes to any other nissan, rocking horse shit is more common in wrecking yards.
They have a 3.9 and a 4.1 ratio, very very very few have 4.3 and it is only the rear that is bigger.

not certain with Qld

but in NSW
if u use a complete diff from donor vehicle.......u go by the track width of the donor vehicle

we can put the nissan diffs under a suzy , an all we gotta do is cover the tyres
