LPG probs with snorkle
Hey guys , I just installed a safari snorkle on my GQ , but am having some problems running on gas.Its a 93 petrol efi, and seems to run fine on petrol but not gas now , and also when on gas the air filter light on the dash is coming on. Any help would be appreciated, shane......

the air filter light comes on when there is a greater pressure difference across the filter, like when it is partially blocked.
sometimes gas systems don't like snorkels because the ram effect when moving (air being pushed down the snorkel) or the restriction of a much longer intake runner.
the convertor takes an air pressure reference from a vent on its body.
this vent should have the same pressure reading as the air intake, but it doesn't
you can insert a barb into convertor and run a 5/8 hose to the snorkel, this becomes a balance line. it works, i've done it!
can also turn the head backwards like dave says,
have it dynod find the rich/lean spots and adjust, then drive on the road with an incar mixture meter to check results.
take it to a reputable gas tuner and say wtf???
david.
do a search as well you lazy mofo

Bagsy
There is a tread on this on works BB. I'll have a look and post the details.
In short it has something to do with the differential pressure across the mixer that gets screwed up when the vehicle is fitted with a snorkel. I check but from menory the fix is to plumb a hose from the mixer port open to atmosphere to a point in your intake system. Can't remember if it should be before or after your air box. Will check and post the detail tomorrow night.
Cheers
Ben.

the hose works best when it references the air pressure as it enters the motor/carby/throttledody/gas mixer.
i imagine it would be just before the gas is introduced to the intake as long as that point was also before the petrol was introduced (KABOOM)
basically the line equalises the pressure between the convertor and the intake point of the gas.

As promised the whole thread is below. But it looks like you have got the info anyway.
