36 Centipedes on GU Wagon
36 Centipedes on GU Wagon
I am looking to run 36x12.5/16 simexes on my gu wagon, i currently have a 3" lift which runs 35s O.K . What sort of lift or mods are required to run this tyre. ARB Southern has a Winter special at the moment on Simex Tyres with Free Rims.
ANY ADVICE ON THIS TOPIC WOULD BE GREAT!!!

I have a coil cab ute so can't comment on the issues in the rear but I would think that unless you go to a custom offset rim you are likely to get a lot of rubbing on the inner guards. Unless you are prepared to chop the front guards or put in more lift you are likely to need one of those control arm spacer kits.
I've chopped about 4-4.5" out of the back of my guards so now fit 42's in there with no rubbing and can't remember what life was like before I grabbed the tin snips.
Sorry, not much help really, was I??

I'm not very good looking, so I guess I better be useful . . .

If you've got 35s on there now, surely you can look closely and tell whether 36s would be much of a problem..?

This is not legal advice.

i'd check on what offset the rims are, otherwise you have not really gained anything at all. Not Grimace 0 offset, would only become worthwhile if they were -28's or something to that affect

I run 36x12.5x15 on TrakII rims for my GU4500. You may have to get rid of the front mud flaps, otherwise you'll rip them off at full lock. If you don't like the occassional scraping at full lock, then fit spacers on the front control arms to move the diff forward. At the rear, just make sure that the panhard rod is adjust properly, otherwise at full articulation the side lugs will scrape the inner side of the plastic flare.
Don't forget the spare. The 36er just fits on the rear door. With the kaymar spacer and TrakII rims there wasn't much clearance to open the doors. The 36ers will also touch the dummy tail lights so open the barn doors carefully.
cheers,
Alberto.

The claws may look better (which I think they don't), but the Centipedes work heaps better here in Vic. Which is what counts, not poser value...
