its just over 9mb in size and goes for 8.05minutes

so is Strangerover the first in aus to run the krawlers .............

Dan

some dude in the winch challange had them at booral (SP?)

I cannot be a hundred percent certain but I doubt the ones at the winch challenge are COMPETITION KRAWLERS.

If they were brought here in Aus they are mostly the street compound krawler - same tread pattern as the comp krawlers just a different compound.

Sam's (sorry BJ's) krawlers are US comp compound krawlers, in fact they were used by Tracey Jordan at the last supercrawl ( how's that for COOL)!!!

So yes Sam is the first to run them but at the moment they are still BJ's (for the time being)

i thought they were crawlers when i saw him do the run......too cool

now all we need is wendle to come up to puosu to see how irok's perform :D

i don't think they will be as good as the krawlers, they are still just a rag tyre. they should stand up to constant misuse for quite a bit longer than the krawlers though??

Gday everyone,

as has been said before, another excellent weekend. It is much more layed back than our NSW comps and this is way good.

Would like to thank Dave Met.., Cruiser park etc, but would really like to specially thank Dave and the qld competitors for another reason .

Dav M, Adrian & Bec, Tony, Beebee, Greg, Sam, Rod dirt, Scott you make us southeners very welcome, we notice this and its much more friendly than our big (100+ competitors) comps down at home  .

Sorry any one elsethat i forgot.

A very big thanks to you lot for the hospitality and friendly welcoming, environment, you guys have a lot to do with why we waste big $$ (about $700 in fuel alone for each tow car) to come and bust our cars...

It is a very good social weekend with some challenging tracks.

Thanks for making it wirth our while!!! :)

Looking forward and trying to save (paid 2 regos today so very, very ,very, broke) but hoping to be heading up for the next one.

Thanks again to every one involved, sorry to outsiders if you think that i'm wanking on a bit but, these guys really do open there arms (and houses to stay have been offered) upto us and we do appreciate it. Thanks alot...... ;) :P
Tazz.

Thanks Tazz,
You guys are always welcome up here ANYTIME there is always somewhere to stay. Not sure if i would want Gonads at my House Though :D

It was a great weekend and we always enjoy getting together with you guys. There is no "US" and "THEM" up here and i hope there never is.

XRCC is nothing more than a social comp to me and i think most of the other guys would agrea. We also drive a lot harder when we are just out for a weekend.

For those that dont look around the site much there are some videos on line from this event.

There was lots of grunting that night, but I stayed upstairs, I didn't want to know!!

Finally found a bit of time to post in this thread......

It really was a great event - Daves XRCC's just keeps getting better and better. This would have to be the best one yet.

Congrats to Dave and Greg on winning the event. Its a fantastic result (for them  ) and really demonstrates how good a builder Dave is and how good a team Dave and Greg are out on course. Daves rig doesent read as anything incredibly special but just works awesome. Hasnt got massive flex, tyres, horse power or gearing but overall a really well balanced machine. Its had enough of everything to be consistant enough in all the courses to take the win.

For me in the Lockless I would have loved the courses to have been a bit harder and more up hill (both Saturdays courses were down hill and Sundays courser were on flat ground without any difficult climbs) In all the courses I really suffered from lack of belly clearance and lack of articulation. I managed to drive around most of the lack of articulation problems I had (amazing how far you can drive on three wheels - the traction control was working overtime) but really came unstuck in the forth stage with my belly clearance problems. After this weekend Im going to lift the Lockless some more and put in some softer springs. ATM its really setup as a hill climbing thrashing machine and not so much as a crawler so Im going to change things around a bit. Still an awesome fun machine to drive though and makes the Mogrover feel like overgrown soggy slug to drive.

Looking at the individual course scores I think that the DNF penalites are a bit harsh. Both Adrian and Rod (especially Rod) produced some really competitive scores but each had a simple early DNF in a stage that totally blew them out of the competition points wise. Getting 300 and 400 + penality points on a single stage in an event where the winner finishes with less than 100 points seems a bit unbalanced. Dont know what can be done to change this. I think that the US points system works so much better in this regard where they have a much lower maximum DNF penality. Other issue is that I dont think that we are running enough courses to even out lucky or unlucky stage results. The US guys are running 10 courses each and we are only doing the 4. Biggest issue here is the required man power needed to run the extra courses. I think this is something that we should be working towards though - would mean a lot more driving for the competitors as well which would also be a good thing.

Overally though - the best XRC yet. Rockcrawling as a 4wd sport is going to be massive in the next few years. I carnt wait.

I would have to agree with you there sam,i think we need more courses to drive,And i would also like to see the rules changed as to stayiing within the set course boundaries,I'm not aiming this at anyone but with course 4 there where a few competitors that went way outside the course boundaries(including myself).
We should be made to drive the course as is,if we have to drive completely off course just get into position to finish the course, then we should be DNF'd.The whole idea of of Rock crawling is to stay within the set course.
And i have watched a few video clips of the courses, both mine and others and i would really like to see the scoring done more evenly,No offence dave but there are a few times where some competitors got away with alot more than others...
Just my opinion.

But all in all it was a great event and i can't wait for round 3 and Put up or shut up..

XRCC Round 2

Post by XTREME MMM »

Just a very quick one Jamie, did you do a count on whistle blows or what, did you happen to notice the sign lanauge for eg. rock stacking or spotter assistance back to Alex or the confirmation looks between the two of us regards a penalty. I might have missed some whistle blows but the penalty was still recordered. If one got away with something (no cones were missed) you will find you all did. There was no one special out there for me to go easy on, I am MMM no mater who is on course.

Just re going of course, remember the competitors set up Course 4 (good course), Sam & I spoke about it when it happened, that it is something one has to be aware of when you set up a Course. It was no different then what Tazz did during Course 1. Next time you will have to stay on the rocks.

Also just on the scoring, the one who drives the courses has to win, that is why I have 50 points per gate, if say you had the gates at 5 points it would be possible for a person to win the event without driving the whole Course (this happened at round 1 last year with 3rd place). So yes the points might be high but the winners were the ones that drove all the Courses. If I redid the scores with the gates at 5 points you would find there would be people who did not do the whole Course beating ones who compeleted the Course ---IS THAT FAIR!

Yes I agree with only 4 Courses it is very hard or impossible to catch up if you have a bad Course, it also would not mater if there were a hundred Courses you still should not be able to beat someone who has driven them all, but thats motor sport. We have not got the area at the moment to set up anymore courses over the weekend and finish at a reasonable time (I can always get more officials). We would be able to do this if we had 2 or 3 gate Courses but what fun would that be. You would have more that you could stuff up & be further behind.

All you have to do is not stuff up & complete the course then you will not have a big point difference at the end.

Anyway I had a top weekend with a top bunch of competitors, officials & spectators.

:) :) :) :) Regards David (MMM)

Hi, big thanks to dave for another great comp, they get better every time IMO. :P
as for the goin off course, i do agree with you jamie, i was trying to keep dave with 2 wheels on the rocks at all times but as he tried to turn he rolled forward and off, so i just had to make the best of it. and it then took 3 more reverses than if he had done what i wanted him to do.
I think that 2 wheels on the rock pile at all times except when course changes should keep it more in tact. But as you may have noticed from the way we went through the courses that i had a big chat to dave and got him to drive constantly and smoothly rather than stoppin at obstacles all the time so i hope from a spectator point of view it was more enjoyable to watch, Because we havent got the beautiful v8 noise out the back to keep the crowd cheering like some ;)

Looking forward to rd3 and catching up with all the crew again!
I know our luck wont be as good next time.
Well done to Rod Dirte check his scores out if he didnt have that air prob he would have spanked us all!
