12 inch clutch discs for a 1HZ?

Post by beanz2 »

I'm mating an H150f and part time transfer from a standard 80 series to a 1HD-T. The tranny has the 23 spline input shaft for which AFAIK Toyota only makes a 10" clutch disc for the HZJ80 Landcruiser. I would like to use a 12" disc as I am using the turbo diesel clutch plate. Any of you guys here know if anyone makes a 12" clutch disk for the 1HZ?

I'm trying to avoid swapping a tranny input shaft from the turbo diesel, LOL

Cheers,
Dave

The HZJ80's have a 11' clutch standard and i got one before with the 1.1' 21 spline with a 12' disc i think it was from some Dyna truck.

Thanks, guys. I gathered the clutch from a 1990+ Isuzu NPR65 with the 4BD1 or 4BD1T engine has the correct size. The disc is an expensive bugger, the equivalent of A$313 was the cheapest I can find. I will try to have a clutch rebuilder put a larger disc instead.

Wally, did you get my PMs on the axle housing?

Clutch will need changing if u use the hdt flywheel (hdt uses 12 inch clutch) or use same if u use hz flywheel.
Incidently all h151 boxes are thesame input shaft petrol and diseasal

Sorry, if u r using t/d box, u will need a new clutch, if using hz motor, there is a plate available from a 75 series that is 11 inch hz with 21 spline.

LOL. The 1HZ comes with a 21 spline input shaft, 275 mm (10.5") plate, the 1HDT comes with a 14 spline input and a 300 mm (12") plate.

The way I understand it is that the flywheels are interchangeable between the two but they are drilled differently. The 1HDT flywheel takes a 12" clutch and the 1HZ flywheel takes a 10.5" clutch.

That is why I want to use a larger disc to fit the 1HDT flywheel without changing the tranny input shaft to 14 splines.

To fit a 1HDT gearbox to a factory 1HZ engine, id need to use the 1HDT flywheel and clutch kit?

Thats probably the best way, but the hdt flywheel will cost you its weight in gold.
Apparently the fzj75 (4.5 75 series) uses a 10.5 inch clutchplate that fits the hdt box spline (they are thesame configuration)
Otherwise, u can have one plate made to suit.
