Re us supplying the cam...we still haven't covered our man hours, two cameras, microphones, miniDV tapes and sundries...and can't lend out $1500 handy cams.

All the sponsor money went on paying for editing and Ch31 air time.

Organise a trip and get patrolman and his dad to tag along...Patrolman now has a fairly good idea of what footage works for us...

btw...I had very little to do with show nine to prove a point (globe segment, etc).

that was a joke...

I was on that trip. And Simon cracked it because I wouldn't talk him. ie interview not very professional. Do you understand that not everyone is comfortable in front of a camera?

We had our trip planned and I really couldn't give a fark about 4x4tv.
We were out there to drive.

Apologies to the moose and of course special thanks...never properly said thanks for helping Miranda with the winching, etc at the Simex challenge a few years back...not forgotten...

Series 2 will air in September!

As for show copies...nothing yet...it has been hard enough for us to get copies...remember Ch31 is a community station staffed by volunteers...and how's this...we are now told that it's a couple of grand$$ up front or something stupid for us to cover legals and copyright (music) if we want to sell copies.

What shows did you miss moose...might have them for you!

Welcome to my world...

Although I haven't seen the series, it takes a lot of work to organise, shoot, post produce and liase with sponsors etc, as well as the background stuff that the viewers will never understand the amount of time that is spent. Top marks for giving it a go, we do have a heap of stuff to submit, but are unable to commit at this stage due to moving our business premises to a larger site. Did Hari get the PM I sent, Simon?

No, Hari doesn't bother passing info on to me, which on many occassions has resulted in a deal of embarrassment for myself.

It's a good to hear from someone who has faced the same uphill battle...we've had many complaints (and sh#te loads of acclaim) but we've also learnt to expect that, we are critical beings...but we can't complain when our show is airing three times a week and we have in excess of 100,000 viewers weekly.

Just need more hardcore (legal...at least barely) action for the second series. Series 1 had plenty of mud racing and exerts from RFC and NZWC tapes but all we have in the lead up to September is the ATECOWC here in Vic...so pleeeeeeease send us some crunching badass action...

Ok, I'll send you a PM as well.

We have access to some rigs up here, some with a few mods , and some pebbling action from a few places. QLD doesn't really have any illegal places, only if you get caught ;) but yeah everything is above board...

QLD is good and bad...not many places to go around Bris but heaps of top parks (Mnt Park, etc).
Last year we drove Ormeau with some of our QLD sponsors (of my rig) and that was awesome...we also found a track or two behind Surfers...nothing real hard, but enough for a little fun...was shocked to realise though that you need a day pass to access most of the state forest tracks...

So far the Qlders who have seen the mud racing from Vic (on our show)have freaked...I would expect that the Vics will do the same when they see the QLD rock stuff...

Give me a buzz and i can help with event coverage, product trial and testing ect ect, as long as we are talking main stream products ect.
I may seem a but harsh but alot of people come into my shop and talk and thats what people want. Sorry if I offend.

Na... you guys are completely right...you are certainly in a class of your own.

We're actually very happy with the sponsors we have (since they have all signed on again for series 2) and sure they are smaller than some of the others...but they now have a voice and have sold a shat load of stuff because of it.

As I said earlier...first time effort and we are still learning, for sure made some mistakes but with over 100,000 viewers a week in Melb alone...none of your mates are watching but someone must be.

Sorry you guys don't like it...but hey, can't make everyone happy...when is your show coming out?

Hey, it is two guys having a go and nothing more...at least we did.

Ch31 provided our April ratings a few weeks ago...peaked at 44,000 viewers for one episode and 35,000 for the Saturday repeat. In May we were far more established and had two repeats a week...All episodes for April (including repeats) were over 30,000 (they gave us dates with the figures) except for one episode that was 17,000 because of a glitch with the set top recording boxes or whatever they use...

So we are only estimating current figures until the May ratings are released...but it's simple maths.

I'm 1 of thq 1000's that watch and I think its great to see you doing so well. I understand you gotta keep the sponsors happy as they make it happen for you BUT wev'e all seen you cars heaps before. In the next series have a look at some of the comp trucks that are sponsored by your sponsors and do segments on them. A few that spring to mind are Pondy's 80 (Brawn winch), Chippers Rangie (Narva), Huddys GQ(Narva), Rod's Jeep (Narva) Chris Hummer's Rangie (RidePro) These spring to mind as some that would interest the masses and make an interesting watch and I'm sure the guys would be more than happy to oblige as any coverage is good for their (other) sponsors too.
I'd like to see Cheezy driving some stuff in his buggy GQ on the show, but he turns up all over the place in mags and vids and he probally has a vid collection of his own he'd lend out, so I understand that he may not make the cut. Last time I watched him at the Ateco a few years back, he fell over and I had to assist in his recovery, so he is exciting to watch ;) ;)
Another segment that would be good for 4WDVIC would be to profile clubs and their activities. This could be done without havng heaps of footage on winches and lights and would definately keep the viewers happy. Many clubs run inner club events, interesting trips, clean up excursions, collecting cans for RFDS ect ect... and that would be a good way to promote the GOOD side of 4Wheel Driving as apposed to the Ban Bull Bar Crap in the media at the moment. If you wanna know more about what clubs do talk to Brian Cox at 4WD VIC and to find out more about Vic All Terrain 4WD Club, me The Fish & 80 Ute (are there any more??) are all members and would be more than happy to help out in this regard.
You have asked before in other posts what people want to see so hope I've been constructive.
Anyway keep up the good work and the masses will keep watching.

Simon I never said I didnt like the show as a matter of fact I havnt even watched it (as Im always at work) B4 everyone jumps on me, I get a huge feed back at work as I get around 50 to 100 calls a day around 20 drop in customers and its a bit of a hang out joint most nights. If you have ever talked to me you know its usually a good one so I get VG feed back on everything from Events, products, people and TV shows. I was just relaying what people are saying NOT having a go
I dont have time to do my own show as work takes up around 100hr's a week and I am also trying too get a couple of events in Vic up and running. I think its grate you are having a go, but if you listen to what people want your show will go through the roof and who knows may even get picked up by main stream TV.
My offer still stands with a drive day and a few hard core new rigs from work (give me a buzz or PM). :D
Again Im not canning you, Im offering HELP. ;)

Does that include my white pile of junk Cheezy (after the micro-surgery)

Seriously, I think Simon and Hari have done a good job. There certainly is a market there for a 4x4 show, just gotta get the mix right and that will come with customer/viewer feedback.
There will always be the doubters and whingers like with everything but I guess a 4x4 show has to appeal to the widest possible variety of 4 wheelers. The show is off the ground now and looks like being shown interstate from there the viewer list will grow huge once it's national.
It may become so popular a commercial station may take it on. Lifestyle/reality shows are all the rage now so you never know.

Firstly...thanks guys...for the advice and support..we are learning and are trying to do something positive for the industry...

It is hard trying to make everyone happy...including sponsors...too much mud slinging and the greenies will nail us...too much soft roading and the comp guys laugh...we've really tried to be middle of the road and most...MOST (but not all admittedly) of the shows...were fairly good.

MYTTUF thanks for the PM (good idea) and the advice...the first thing we did was approach the association...their response was interesting..."we refuse to be involved with anything illegal"...and with no explaination, that was it!

We did eds on the Paj and Yota clubs and seperate eds on cruisekhana and the Paj challenge...both were popular. Plugs also for the Suzuki club and we offered them an ed but to the disgust of the members, one particular person said 'whoa...do we want to be seen in that light?"

We did 2 specials on Chip and Huddy at the NZWC and did a viewers rig on Hummer (he even got to mention his warn winch and show his hella lights). Locky also had a go mentioning his swampers and showing his awesome front bar (on the rig).

The viewers loved the RFC, NZWC and the Mud Wars.

We would have loved to show a heap of rigs...I actually phoned cheezy months before we started and sent him a proposal just to show it was legit and going ahead...but for most (and us too) it was a matter of time.

Only one group invited us out...and we went and filmed it (hence the rocky/vic track report and footage). Turned out to be two good segments.

Also did a few trips with 4wdHeaven (who didn't sponsor the show) and the feedback we got from average Joe on those was very positive.

For me though the next 8 weekends will be spent interstate and overseas deliverying our courses for prospective medical school students...I have to work sometimes too...So if any one has footage...SEND IT...if anyone wants to know what we would like for trip or track reports then email or call us...it's easy...just time consuming...we know because we have had to do it all ourselves.

Finally...how lame are our ads...not one sponsor gave us a script or story board and only one gave us any guidance at all...we did it all ourselves and believe me writing those voice overs, practicing them, rewriting them, timing them and recording them takes friggin hours...

Guys...as shit as it is, as good as it is...it is better than what we had before.

When Hari came to our meeting, I thought the response was quite favorable to the idea. He was added to our Magazine email list, so he knew when our trips would be, so he/you could fit a trip in with your other responsibilities. The only neg was, not a special trip for filming, but filming on a normal club trip. Not sure how you got the idea Suzuki club wasn't interested, though we do care how we are portrayed, of course, as any club would be.
It must be added that my hearing is poor, and I may have misheard or misunderstood? christover

Come on, There is nothing illegal and no mud slinging involved where I would take you. The tracks (if you call them that ) are on private property and would be of grate interest. How many people are on here and read 4x4 Monthly ect ect. The drive would involve people off this board eg: Guts ect and will be hard core and more rock type driving. Come on who on here would watch. :?: :?:

hey cheezy...no doubt you can provide the hardcore stuff that will spin socks off...and if it ain't legal we can always do some magical editing and make it look so sweet.

We aren't so concerned about it but do want to portray as positive an image as possible.

It is more of a concern that the likes of the vic assoc wouldn't even give us a chance...just canned us as being illegal before we even started.

keep in mind the knockers...we had complaints from a 'how to fix a CV' segment in show 3 because some oil dripped on the ground...we clearly stated twice that you need to keep everything clean and remove all rubbish, etc...but they still complain.

...on the other hand, we had a phone call from an under experienced OBC competitor who said thanks for the same segment because he remembered it and was able to change a CV.

Would love to have any footage of you hard boys though and appreciate the offer...but for the next 8 weeks (read my post above) it is either me during week days or Hari on weekends.
