thinking of moving upper shock mounts inward a bit/lot so i can get more down travel.any advise on how to do this? good idea or bad idea and how does it affect onroad handling.
My method was to cut one side out of some box and mount it using existing mounts and then drilling new locations in box and bolting new shocks in place. thinking of using hilux shocks.

I redrilled my mounts (I'm assuming you mean the rears) and welded in new mounts further inboard. (I'm sure I have posted pics around here somewhere)
This itself won't create more travel, you will need a longer shock and expect it to make contact with the pumpkin unless you space the upper and lower mounts to the shock mounts further back from the diff.

made bracket and bolted it in place using existing mounts and drilled new mounting holes 150mm inward and are using triton shocks. have to get exhaust moved as it now hits shocks. also removed a leaf from spring pack and opened up spring clamps. has made a huge difference to the ride and travel. doesnt bounce as much.
Best thing is it is all removable and can be put back to stock if it needs to be.
