lol sorry mate.. ur much better off gettin one made is my personal opinion. unless you have the $$ to buy one from arb. if theres any decent fellas you know who's a welder, talk to him. i dont think i could be happier with my a bar which i had custom made for me. and i also left room for modifcations as well, which is real sweet... see the pic below.

Mine came with the bar, so I haven't been in your situation.. sorry
Good luck though.. Just wish mine could fit a small winch though... (not that I can afford a winch)

But if you decide to get one made, here's a pic of mine, incase you want some ideas.. (id suggest it be about 5-10mm higher in the tubing, as it does block the tops of the headlights somewhat..

Feroza Bullbar

Post by Rich »

yeah that does look pretty good actually !
I don't really want to get one custom made because I was quoted $1150.
Way too much for me, I was trying to get one of those ones that came as an accessory on the Feroza's when new - I was hoping I could find one at a wrecker but phones around and Can't.

Never mind, I'll keep looking and thanks for the tips guys.
Rich.

The last I heard there is ONE original ARB bar left - in Adelaide and the asking price is $1100! The one below is a mockup of one I have designed to build for myself. It isn't rocket science and uses only basic componentry such as some bent tube and folded front replacement bumper. I have had an alloy bar on other vehicles and was not prepared to keep wasting time polishing it so this one will be galvanised steel, powder coated grey. This one should rock in at under $300 for parts and powder coat with me providing all the free labour.

David, please don't tell me that, that is the finished product on the car in the picture. Because it looks like you've been playing in Microsoft Paint!

Accessories are alot cheaper when you paint them on!

Breathe easy, like I said it is only a mock up and the resolution dropped off when I had to rescale the image to fit on the forum. First step is to decide what you want, then make a mockup from cardboard. The mock up then provides the template for cutting and folding the steel sheet. Step 3 is to weld up the completed bar after fabrication and fit it to the car. I have redesigned the thing slightly to accomodate some serious driving lights - as below.

What is it then?!? :?

It's made from stainless tubing with the normal indicators mounted in between the tubing.

Bullbar

Post by Rich »

Thanks for that Website dave, I did have a look at it and those Bullbars look excellent don't they. You offer was great to em, however I have now decided I am going to pass on the bullbar idea....long story.....
I first bought the Feroza ( only 2 months ago now) to try out four wheel driving and going bush to see if I like it, well I have been out nearly every weekend and have decided that I like it and will take it up as a hobby. Once I get a little more experience over the next few months, I intend to sell the Feroza and get another bigger 4Wd, I am probably going to get a Late model Turbo Diesel like a 2002 Prado.
So not much point in spending any more on the Feroza as I see it.
Otherwise I'd but your bullbar em....of course!

if ya gonna get right into the 4x4 thing dont spent too much on a 4x4 coz ya will just damage it and break things. Buy something thats easy and cheap to fix. Parts may be expensive for a prado. check prices for the usual things at a local wreckers first. id keep the feroza and modify it. or buy a sierra.
