i run a 20/50 at the moment, but will change to 25/70 soon, as the tb42 has pretty low pressure anyway.

Thicker is not always better. Oil need to move thru to remove HEAT. Thinner more stable oils are better.

Don't worry about what we run you need to be more specific - do you have dual fuel, do you dyno tune your car daily (ie. have little or no pints on your licence), run a turbo with ? Boost. and lastly how much you budget for oil changes are as well as how frequent??? Then and only then we can give you our opinions - sound fair??? :?

The engine is straight petrol who occasionally cops a flogging and its oil is changed every 5000 with 10w40 semi-synthetics. Just changed the oil pressure sender and guage shows over 6 at start upo and around 4 once warmed up.

I thought TB42 was a petrol and although nissan were pretty lazy and used the same parts on the rigs I am sure that they used different oils.... But thanks if I ever am scared with the pace of speed limits I will buy a diesel and see how you guys struggle to 60kms..... :D
