Blue motor in 78 BJ40

Post by Reddo »

Thinking about putting Holden Blue Motor in my 78 BJ 40 - old diesel blown up, and blue motor just happens to be laying around the shed! Anyone know anything about this conversion? I understand this was a conversion available some years ago, before V8s and V6's became the norm. Could be an old coversion kit or adapter belhousing waiting out there somewhere....

Any advice would be gooood

PS I know the blue motor has bad rep, but once done, could sub a hot 202 or similar in future, when bluey blows

I presume you are talking about a blue 202 not a blue 253/308. I am puting a blue 308 in my FJ40 right now. and every man and his dog make a kit for that! Anyway back to the subject I have seen ford 250's put in cruisers and lot's of V8's but I can honestly say I have never seen a V6 or holden straight 6 in one. Not saying they are not out there coz I bet they are. Lotsa old Land Rovers got the holden 6 converson but. As for the Blue 202 having a dud rep I recon you are wrong there. infact I would say they are the best of the holden straight 6's ounce you ditch all the anti polution crap they make good power, and stock are stronger than the red 202. Infact If there was one holden motor I would keep away from it's the red 202.

Yeah the red motor out of the Commies was a dog box, only kicked out about 88 hp. the best is the 202 out of the kingswood which kicked out around 130 horse power. I didn’t say the blue was crap, i said it has a bad rep.
I know a lot of the comments are based on the fact that when someone wants to put in another motor, they wouldn’t bye or use a Holden motor, but in my case I have one lying around, and its more of a case of being able to use what I have at hand…..

IF push comes to shove, Me and my father will make up our own adaptation plate, it will take time and there are many problems to address, but it can be done……….
