GQ and GU pitman arm

Post by flexy trol »

hello there' does anyone know if a pitman arm of a GQ is interchangeable with a GU steering box, If its not are the holes in the chasiss the same?..

Also if a guy was to install 4.8 ratios in the diffs what would the revs be at 110kms with 35 inch tyres? roughly'

It will fit but taper is on wrong side and is very slightly different in taper.
Adaptors are available.

would it be easyer to get the box and the arm complete and do it that way?
if not where would you get an adapter from.
I alredy have 4.6 ratios in my patrol would any one be interested buying them so I could upgrade to 4.8s if they are available.

Whats your reason for doing it?
Without putting taper underneath there is no gain..

I have looked at both setups and it appears you are correct bazz' the only reason I wanted to lower the steering was because I have a little bump steer and I run two return to centers also.

Return to centres from what ive been told 'mask the problem' rather than actually solving the problem.

My suggestion would be to put standard dampeners on and work out where the problem is.. castor or panhard alignment etc. and correct it then put the return to centre stablilisers back on for further steering improvement.

Just an idea..

I have had the return to centers on the vehicle for 12 months and I've done a little over 30,000 ks, It might be a good Idea to re adjust them maybe'
