Hi All, I'm interested in a jeep CJ7 1979 model I have seen, it's fitted with a Ford 351 and auto running straight gas.
What should I be looking for in the way of problems with driveline, body, rust, anything else. I have never owned a Jeep before.
Thanks in advance.
Andrew

Things to look out for.. If its in Mel.. Take it to USA4x4. Speak to Tony.. He has dealt with a few jeeps in his time!
Else.. make sure the chassis is straight, no cracks/welds, rust in the body..check near the roll bar feet, footwell. (Esp if it has carpet)
no Vibrations.. If it's only got the engine done.. there shouldn't be any real bad vibrations.. unless it has suspension mods which wer n't done correctly
Hope this helps

chances are it still has quadratrack so check the vacum shift still works ( the switch is in the glove box)
look for rust in the windscreen frame and near the air vent on the cowl
look for rust under the roll bar feet
look for loose steering box and look for cracks around the steering box
look closely at the spring mounts and around them on the chassis for cracks or signs of wear
other than that it is a 25yo jeep look for wear everywhere it is sure to have it some is more expensive to fix than others
