Tyre Poll
I do believe that there is no such thing as "all round 4x4".
What type of vehicle do you have, what size are you looking at, where do you intend to travel, are they do be used for day to day use?
The cooper tyres have a tendancy to scallop out, i know of three such vehicles that have on the SST) not sure about their MT's
The BFG's have been around a long time, spares are readily available, size selection is good, not all that aggressive however for hardcore
The Simex are excellent, some say too hard for light weight zooks, probably the best in my opinion. However not so good on the road but who cares about that.
Motorway Mongrel pretty good also, but for the small price difference, may as well go the simex.
Goodyear MTR, much like the BFG but they seem to have a better contact patch and better road manners, good on the rocks
BFG all terrains, good for a shopping cart that needs to drive down a dirt road to get home.

i voted BFG... muds obviously 
u said best all-round, and i'd choose either these or the wranglers for daily drivers. gives you a reasonable tyre onroad, and pretty good offroad. not hardcore maybe, but will get u most places. i think the wranglers are quieter onroad, but wear quicker from what i've seen. a little bit better on the rock, but not quite as good in the mud. so i like my bfg muds... good allrounder

It is impossible to say the best tire. I know you said all round tire but what does that mean. For me a Swamper is because when it is running I am willing to compromise any on road benefits for the massive off road benefits of the type of terrain i drive on. But if you were doinf heaps of road kms and only a little bit of sand driving a basic AT would be fine. But if you had mud instead of sand but didn't like the sound a MT gives then maybe a Cooper St.
Too many variables: Cost, driving style, terrain, road vs terrain etc etc

I don't think its ridicoulous.
Perhaps something more along the lines of:
"What tyres have you owned and what were there pros and cons". Might have got some more technically usefull data, rather than babble.
Would have also kept Grumpo happy but hey who gives a F#$k

Bearing in mind I didn't vote. And just trying to make a point. So many people post these polls that don't have a clear objective. All it takes when posting a subject is a little time to re read what you are asking and make sure it is asking something that will generate some thoughtful tech. Just my opinion but alot of stuff is turning into just padding or chit chat instead of tech.
(yes I know some of my responses to threads are silly but they most certainly aren't padding

The point of the poll is to see what type of tyre peolpe prefer to drive and as we all drive mud, rock sand and road all choices will be a comprise on at least one of the surfaces ...so we try to make the best tyre choice for our situation and I was interested in that choice and why!
If we waited for valuable 'TECH' and every newbie did a search and found some old post on what they were looking for we would never discuss anything in here.

Agree with Ryan, the MTR's are the goods. Though they seem to be pretty soft, are wearing a bit, though im a lead food sometimes, so that may be something to do with it. Anyone else notice that they dont clean too well in the mud compared to bfg muddies (my old tyres).

I was far from satisfied with My MTR's in everthing but rock, they were particular poor in slippery stuff, didn't self clean at all

they only think about cleaning themselfs when doin 40k's and above

Simex for me, I picked it as it has the possability of being road legal (if you choose to get it engineered), but still performing very well off-road even though the sidewalls are kinda stiff. So some form of beadlock may be nessecary
