choke problems.

Post by muppet_man67 »

It seems to be a recurring theme with sierras. My choke goes up but doesnt go down as far as it should. I found that if I pull it out it will stay at the correct idaling reves but the next time I drive its the same story.
From peoples experience is this an easy fix or do most people just live with it.

auto chokes play up if water is low, or the pipes get blocked up. or if the spring is worn. take pipes off at carb, blow water thru the carb and hoses. werth a try, christover

I believe disconnection may make it stay on, so would need to prop it open somehow? christover

Mine was playing up. I disconected the choke plate and held it open with cable tie. Made sure that the throttle adj part of the choke was un-adjusted so it didnt affect the throttle position. Works okay for me (excuse drunken post if this didn't make sense, i am realy a mechanic  )
