Motor Mounts

What are peoples opinions on this type of mount?

i think it is very stout, but would transfer a bit more vibration, would this be worthwhile?

tony? anyone?

How big are they? If that is something like a 3/4" bolt hanging out the top then going by that sort of scale there is a fair bit of bushing material in there & they should dampen a fair bit of vibey vibey.

Rob they work well but they do create vibs. Paul with that Blue V8hilux that theradiator fell out of out a Sams runs them. I am making a similare mount but with a larger bush.
A lot of guys that fit them in the US are removing the RH one after a while because of the vibs and fitting a stock mount there.

tony they look very similar in size to the landcruiser suspension bushes, do you think that a larger bush like the ones you have pictured will transmit less vibes to the frame?

i realise it will still be up on stock, but im no longer running a diesel and the vibes will be well down on what im used to anyways ;)

do you think the bushes you plan to use will be okay?
would you use large suspension landcruiser bushes?

These are front eye bushes from the rear IFS hilux springs they have a crush tube fitted which i think is important and i think they are actually larger in size again from the cruiser ones.

BJ
These are Bomb proof engine mounts and were used many years ago on 351 Ford engines, in street cars to stop the engine mounts from continuosly tearing apart under aceleration.
So they should suit your application and keep the engine where it should be when you go rolly polly. :D

i was going to make up some of those but i think with the mighty 3b it will vibrate the truck to pieces!

I am going to cable from the top of the mount to the chassis so it wont rip the mount.

i wouldn't use 3 pieces of plate welded to gether - i would get one single piece of 6mm plate cut on the plasma then folded

i am pouring my own poly bushes for my suspension as i want a harder grade than ordinary suspension bushes and i cant get a size that i want.

They are going to be 52mm OD with a 20mm ID. If you guys are interested i could probably pour a few extras.
