high idle....

Post by SimplyPV »

well fellas.... i think my oxygen sensor is out of whack..... new applause donk and i got that damnned check engine light on.. and now it idles high! around 1000-1200 rpms.... grrr how annoying... can anyone confirm for me if its the oxygen sensor? i also have a stupid electrical short somewhere and its driving me nuts! gotta jump the truck whenever i want to drive it, no stereo, can only run my electric fan and headlights otherwise engine dies...... have an appt to have someone look at it tomorrow.. other than that, things are going pretty well... damn transfer case is still leaking and looks like i'll have to replace the tranny when i get around to replacing my clutch.... truck runs great and drives great though. removed sway bar... wow what a difference it makes in the ride! will be out wheeling soon when i get the electrical issue dealt with and will have pics to show....

Have you adjusted the idle screw at all to reduce the idle speed?

Checked for leaking hoses off the inlet manifold etc?

Checked the air bypass valve in the throttle body isn't stuck open?

Its pretty easy to adjust mate, It's the screw under the little black rubber cap on the inlet near the butterfly. Just turn it and check the revs. Then blip the throttle and see where it rests.
On boooooost!!
