The bolt pattern is different between V6 and V8 700, as for the inners Ruff will be able to answer that 100% but from what he told me when I was going down that road is that a V6 700 can be rebuilt to V8 specs.

400 is much stronger than 700 but doesn`t have the over drive. A 700 is basicly a 350 with an overdrive added, well thats the way I`ve had it explained to me.

If you were to use a V6 700 behind the 1UZ you`d have to get an adaptor made as nobody makes one to suit and it would cost you alot more than a V8 700 adaptor.

But let me guess you`ll make it yourself

The Bolt Pattern is completely different, The input shaft is different. There the same strength internally but the V6 runs a much smaller convertor. The T/400 output shaft has a completely different spline from the T/700, also different bolt pattern on the Extension housing.

What are you trying to do? We have built over 2,000 T/700 transmission to suit all sorts of 4WD's. Mostly Nissan, Toyota, Range Rover, Prado and a lot of motor homes so maybe I can help you here. We do all the transmissions and Extreme Valve Bodies for Marks 4X4, Linquip, Brunswick Diesels as well as all of our own sales.

Sry for the hijack Bubs but I've got a quick Q for extreme. I had a T700 rebuilt recently and I was told once it was done that I should get the converter split and rebuilt also. Otherwise if there is muck in the converter it can get sucked into the fresh transmission. Is this really necessary and how much should I pay for this?

Cheers

John - It is absolutely essential to get the convertor rebuilt. You might be luck and it could work fine but if the transmission had metal and other deposits then the convertor will to! you don't want it to damage your new transmission. A rebuilt convertor will cost you anywhere from $300-$400 inc gst change over depending on where you go. Ours are $395 inc gst change over.
