charging delay in 1HD-FT 80 Series

Post by hooters »

Hi all, when I start my 8o series it does not charge for approx 3-4 minutes (or 2km) before the volt meter jumps up and it starts charging. If the headlights are on they stay dim until it starts charging. After it has warmed up it charges immediately on starting the engine. Any ideas????

Seen that on 100 series.
Try bleeping throttle 10 secs after it starts.

May be the afterglow on the glow system . This can be on for a while after the engine starts. Or a loose belt!!!
