Can a limi slip diff be CIG locked?

tighten it up so it's a locker
works just as good
For the first couple of hours then it wears all the clutch material off the plates and turns into an open centre.
It would be possible to weld an LSD but it would need to be totaly dis-assembled and would be very hard to re-assemble after being welded. There are no real holes in the side of the hemisphere to weld the gears when assembled.
The reason I ask is I need cheap traction.
I havnt got the funds available to complete my SAS project at the mo.
So I have a 4.88 rear centre with an ARB in it sitting in the shed I cant use caus my ratio in the front is 4.56.
So I was thinking I could just weld up the rear for now but kinda thought it wouldnt be do-able with a LSD centre.
Oh well does anyone know where I can get a 4.88 IFS diff centre cheap cheap? I will only need it for 6 months or so hopefully. I am willing to swap a 4.56 if interested.

is there a reason why you don't want to swap the air locker into the 4.56 diff??
don't weld the limo, at least swap it four an open centre that is way easy to weld up.
Free air locker to the first 20 callers!

The only reason is too much hassle
I want to run 4.88s when I eventually do my SAS.
