Rubbing on guards

Post by fatassgq »

Hey people,

I know this has been mentioned before but I want to know my options.

I am unsure of the exact lift in my truck but I think it would be about 4" and I have a 2" body lift.
I run 35 xterrains and they are rubbing on my factory flaps at the front.

I have the standard type flares also that I would really prefer over the rubber ones.

Anyway I have seen the radius arm spacers but have been told by those in alignment game they are fucked cause it pushes everything out of wack. Puts a bend in springs etc. I guess you could get away with 10 or 15mm forward but what other options? How much do the snake ones give ya for example?
I am scared shitless to cut guards myself and as mentioned I would like to keep factory style flares. Is this an easy job?
Prolly way too expensive at the moment to buy fibreglass ones.

So back to cutting! Is it difficult?

Cheers

Ive fitted a few sets of front arm spacers. GQs can go about 12mm with out any probs and standard nylock still fits ok. Springs do get a small offset but it doesnt hurt them. Any more and front panhard may rub on diff case and will aslo put stress on Panhard bushes.

Mudflaps can be modified. I use flat rubber sheet.
On the rear I had the rear of opening opened out about 25mm and relipped. Standard flares will flex enough to fit.

Hey Bazzle,
Thanks for the reply,
You say you got some removed from the rear guards and then reliped.

Was it a neat job and did it cost much.
Just trying to figure how much a panel shop would charge to do the front guards about 1" all round I reckon would be good.

cheers

Why would you want to do all around? if you still want to fit factory flares?
You can only open up to the corner radius to keep the fit.

Cost me about $300 to do rear of rears.
I would only do rear of fronts tapering up to about 200mm from bottom.

call into a panel shop.

Some guys have cut and relipped on here like mine, a little at a time to prevent distortion.
