weber carby on 1.3 sierra engine?
Has any one put a two barel weber carby on a 1.3 sierra? Does it give you better economy and more power and are they ok for offroad use? any hints or advise on doing this wioud be a help.

This is getting prety oldschool now, by y understanding is that for off road use they are pretty useless (who would have though- just like a carb!) and any gains in performance will come at a loss of economy. also, things like air filer adapters etc are harder to set up.
Personally, I owuld make sure that the car is timed up spot on and fit decent plug wires, run a reasonable exhaust.
apparently a vit carb will give more power, but there was some "discussion" that this is only becuse they are newer - there are plenty of 1.6's around running sierra carbs too.
Grimbo, weren't some of the US guys in Moab running webers?

this was a thought coz im having big problems with the stock carby. fuel consumption is huge ( 100km on 20 ltrs on highway ) and have really bad fumes comming in to car. compression is ok and i dont use any oil. Have looked in to it and a weber carb is suposed to give a 20% increase in power and economy improved coz of better tuning ability. adaptor plates aint that expensive (can get then from redline in the states for about $90 delivered).
Does anyone have any ideas on how to fix my problem using the original carb with out paying someone to do it or of another carb that'll bolt strait on to this manifold??

Ive ran a weber on my last 2 zooks, not to bad off road. Not sure on economy coz ive neva really worried about that but definatley more power (snaped the transfer mount leaving the garage after instaling the weber. You can buy the adapter plate from anyone that sells redline stuff I think it was $50. I instaled mine back to front with the bowl at the back. Runs pretty good uphill but crap down hill plus, everything lines up better that way. As to airfilters you are a bit limited i run a open style paper filter works good but I dont go through much water either.
got a second hand carb from a suzi wreckers and still have same prob and it's backfiring after being reved hard. could it be the vac lines are wrong?? does any one have a diagram of the vac lines and where they connect to ??? auto choke is working and has been cleaned out. as said b4 compression is ok and timing is spot on.
Is really annoying coz only got a 200km max range to go 4wding.
