i still wanna hear moose's idea of using a range rover rubber coupling or someshit instead of the little driveshaft connecting the two boxes

Both of those setups are very similar to conversions that I have seen. There are problems with them, mostly to do with misalignment of the two cases under power/overrun in the top photo and with side loading the bearings in the cases in the bottom photo. IMHO tis is a very complex issue to get right.

I am doing something similar with my zook and it pains me how ugly it is.

Personally, for a vit, I would see if it was possible to adapt a hilux transfer case onto the vit gearbox (couldn't be that hard) and then you have lots of gear options. All of the outputs are in the right spots, you are not loosing strength, have to build a heap of mounts etcetcetc, and you loose the 'orrible slip yokes.

Steve, OTT do a Hilux / Vit dual t-case adapter but it still doesn't resolve the high range gearing.

They also do an adapter to bolt on a Hilux t-case to the Vit gearbox but it still will need diff gears.

If you can run 33"s or better then the Vitara /sierra seems the best Idea.... keeping it Zook too :D

There's also potential to use twin Vit or twin Hilux tcases, but once again no high range, and it doesnt allow so many options when you want something other than insanely low.

Rocky tcases have a nice hi/low mix high is about 2.2 or 2.3 and low is about 1.3 ro 1 so if they had the right offsets that could be useful.

Not for me.. I dont really have the time to fiddle anymore so it's gonna have to be one set of LOW gears for me, but it's still good to see that my own research was down the right path with the way I would have done it.

Cut off the low bit output bit and weld a plate on... just need some cutting, a tig and a bit of fresh oil :D
