Bodylift woes

Post by high n mighty »

Doing the BL on my lux right now. I have jacked the passenger side up and got all blocks in except the front one. all mount bolts are undone but something is holdin the front and causing the whole vehicle to try and lift instead of the front of the body. Any ideas?????

Definately not, but can't see anything holding it??? Also would bunnings have the prescribed high tensile bolts???, the fastener places are shut but if I couls get the bolts today I may be able to finish it.

The steering shaft hasn't been loosened yet but its on the drivers side obviously so shouldn't pose a problem ;)

Sometimes you need to lift both sides at once to clear things.
Try lifting the r/h side gently and see if this lifts the left.

Ok, I got the shits an kept jacking the body until it got there. So if there is a phantom part holding it I will find out later. Now to loosen the steering shaft and lift the d/s.

But does bunnings have tensile bolts Im still wonderingm don't wanna waste time going there if they don't have em.

Nah mate, will get them through the week. I have only lifted the p/s atm. the d/s is gunna be a bigger pita having to remove that sidestep then loosen the steering shaft and extend the fuel filler and breather. So I will get those blocks in and bolt it all up and then I will look at how I am gunna drop my radiator(brackets etc) then find someone with an oxy so I can bend my gearstick. I'll put some photo's up in the members section tonight when the old man emails em to me. The bottom of the side windows is above my shoulders  and I'm 5'9" tall, the sills are now 750mm off the ground.

Thanks for the info Revin. I arranged for that bolt place to stay open later the next day so I could go in after work and get my bolts. Then I rang CDA in braodmeadow and simply had them deliver my bolts the same day. Poetic justice is a great thing

Bodylift is all in now and ready to go. I have only now to drop the radiator but am waiting to get it back because I forgot that I left it hanging by one bolt while full of coolant and three days later the side had apparently de-laminated itself.

Heres a pic I took yesty, now I have to build the tray an front bar and Im back on the road.

i just used some 20x5mm flat bar, drilled 4 holes so i could bolt it 2 the body then sit the radiator where u want it and mark the hole psoitions on the flat bar thats bolted 2 the body.

pull the flat bar out and drill the holes, then i got some bolts the right size and welded them in the holes and ground them flat so that wen it gets bolted back doen the bolts stick out and u can put your rad on them and put the washers and nuts on and its all done..
