First you have to decide that 44" boggers are the tyre you want to run :D

Seriously what do you want to do comp it? Find the rules for the comps you're keen on and build around that ;)

at this present time just looking at ideas. Not even sure of the comps I want to enter. Just about any thing takes my fancy. At this point all I have is a rusty body and good chassis. As for running gear, this area is still in the air. Obviously strong is what I would like. So any body feel free to suggest ideas on the mechanicals and events

Small capacity with forced induction etc. Try to keep it as light as possible but still strong enough :)

Are you looking for cheap or expensive. I would say coil over/mogs/37 mtr's or similar.... but that might be a bit pricey.

Or lux diffs (read 5.29)/ spoa/ 35 - 37/ s3 rock hopper.

I wouldn't go forced induction because of reliability issues

if its a full on buggy (ie, no rego) there will only be 2-3 comps you can enter, those being puosu, xrcc and nissan trials (think thats the one). atm no 4wd parks around seq allow unregistered rigs there (unless you're at a comp, or on friendly terms with the owners like some on the board here).

i am also looking to builld one cause i've got a heap of tube left over, and know where i can get the drivetrain cheap, but atm i dont think i'd get enough seat time to justify the cost, and thats with a mates property just a few hours away where i could take it.

Q rock don't need rego. And I didn't think you needed rego to go to black duck or Manar as they let go cart buggy things in. Could be wrong tho.

Flyinwall Has Matt checked out your diffs for his suzi? And what did you want for them?

lol :D , what i know about buggy building...............sweet fark all

some things that i've picked up though. use a simple design like the haultech buggies. iirc, there are only 2 tubes bent in 3D while the rest are done in 2D, not like some of the yankee creations which have tube going everywhere. and bending tube in 3D is a pita after doing my exo :x .........and the buggies seem plenty strong after seeing rod's roll off about a 15foot drop.

check out the buildup threads of sams, and tony's and adrians for inspiration

oh, and get a notcher..........notching out tube with a grinder sucks ass bigtime

Don't get me wrong I lurrrve buggies but they aren't to functional.

I'd go for something that still had panels (albeit removable).
See attached

What does you mate drive, mods e.t.c If you build a buggy to out drive him you have essentially cheated, you could easily set up a LWB to out perform what he drives and still be able to duck down to the shops for some milk and bread.

steve,
the body and chassis is will be the ones we replace. He currently drives a lwb1985 Canadian zuk. It was his suggestion that we make a buggy for some serious fun and some thing different
