the lux is now running at 65ish deg celius since wed morning.
it use to always go straight to 85ish deg and not budge hot or cold day movin or idle.
so either - this is wot its ment to be ?
gauge is broken
themostate is stuck open

any otehr ideas.... i have a cheapo mechanical temp guage i will plug the original dash gauge in and see wot that does..but i duno wtf thats ment to be at anyways...will also test the mechanical gauge with boilign water to check its reading. any other ideas? or shoudl i leave it and let it stay this cold... hehe

wot does the diseal ment to run at?

more than likley ur thermostat is buggered..
for ten to twenty bucks u may as well replace it anyway..

Where are they that cheap. I went to Auto One and they wanted $40 for a thermostat. Bit steep I thought...

there is a lot of variation in thermostats, if your motor uses a bypass type thermostat then expect to pay $40+ for it. the toyota factory thermostats are reasonably priced but they use natural rubber parts so if there is any oil or you use bars leaks or anything in the cooling system then they will be junk very quickly.

yeah $20 i can get em for... its just if i dotn need to then i wont bother..is it ok for the motor to run aroudn the 65deg mark ?

While testing your gauge in a pot of boiling water why not throw the thermostat in as well and see at what temp it opens, might pay to use a thermometer as well.
