Just broke the cross pin on my rangie's rear diff. 1980 2 door with 32" mud terains. I would like to fit a Maxidrive rear locker with upgraded side shafts but can't afford it right now. What is the price in Aus$ and would they be able to ship it to South Africa.
I'm considering fitting a True Trac to the rear but only if I can later move it to the front, are they made to go in on the front or rear only or are they interchangeble. If they can only go in on one side can I put my front centre portion in the rear and fit a true trac to the front?
Would a true trac be stronger than the LR diff?
Lastly, is the splines on a 96 discovery 10 or 24 spline, as I can borrow a disco centre portion till i've decided what I'm going to do..

Rangie diff questions
I would also like to drive an economical 4x4 but I need to go everywhere
I would be very surprised if there isn't an ARB agent in South Africa.
RangeRover front and Rear diff centres are fully interchangeable.
Even a Suzuki LJ50 diff is stronger than a RangeRover one, so whatever carrier you fit will be an improvement.
I dont know if a 96 Disco rear diff has 24 splines. Australia seems to only get updated components after all old production stock is used up.
My advice if you live in a remote area, away from 4wd specialty shops is to fit a complete Salisbury rear end from a 110 LandRover, preferably a pre 300 TDI Defender, and save up for a locker.
