40's suspension!!
Just a new owner to a 40. It is sprung over, "7 leaf pack at the back and 6 pack at front. It also has a 2 inch body lift. I think it is to high, but i want this to flex dammmm good. Whats the step from here. Move springs, take body lift out, ideas needed. I hate the height, but love to flex. It soon will run 15x10's with 35 muds. Help neede
Eddy, you are right about the height. It needs far less. Taking out the body lift is somewhere to start to get a slightly lower COG.
After this, to make it flex better, you need to remove some of the load leafs in the front and rear spring packs.Trial and error spring combinations for road holding stability and flex. Adding extended shackles will also help the spring packs to flex better.

The only problem is, the more leafs you remove to make it flex better, the more axle rap you will get cause of the softer packs.
This highlights the need for a rear track bar. Means more $$$ unless you are handy with a welder.

im no expert. all i know is my rear wont flex.
run it as flat as possible or hunt around for 60s rears. apparently they go in the rear nicely.
(ask shorty40, aka dan the peni$ smoker) for some tips.... or break into his garage and take measurments and photos... and share!
my front isnt terrible and it has alot of leaves...
body lift with spring over wouldnt be needed i wouldnt think. oh and 15x10s with 35s are nice on a 40....but i would lurv 37s...

I run 60 rears all round and they flex like crazy...recently scored 1284 on the 20 degree ramp which is reasonable for leaves.
Try to set them up as flat as possible...the trick is getting the rear to work as it has very little weight over it.
A rear track bar is essential.

Also the car is not going to be all that fun off road if you don't sort out something in the way of cross over steer... The drive home in it was . Motor issues can be adressed relatively easily and on the cheap, however there is no way your going to get good flex out of it unless you start spending good $$$. Just start saving like no Whitfield has before

Suggestions (and they are only that - "suggestions" )
CHEAP and EASY VERSION
** Get rid of the body lift - you dont need it to clear 35s. And this will lower your CoG.
** Play with your leaf packs - lose a few leaves so they sit reasonably flat. This way you will get good 'stuff' and 'droop'.
Some things to consider for a reasonable leaf setup: (but not all are necessary)
Shackle reverse up front
Cross over or high steer
track bar
longer springs (55s or 60s) Just go measuring which will mean you will have to relocate spring mounts.
extended shackles
More flex however may require:
Longer shocks
New shock hoops (or similar)
Longer brake lines
I run 60s leaves in the rear of mine with only 3 leaves. But as has been previously suggested, I run a track bar to limit axle wrap. I run 40s up front with a shackle reverse. I have done the crossover steering with 60s power steer. I also have 60s diffs and flipped rims for width. With my SPOA and flat springs (they are almost dead flat) I get good flex and enough clearance for 38" TSLs.
