Starter motor

Post by NIK »

Took my starter motor to the autoelecy the other day as it wouldnt work. When they pulled it down they said it would be better to get a new one as they only cost $180. So they ordered one for my ,85 g13a. when it arrived the two bolt holes were offset compared to the nose cone. The ones on my old starter were in line with the nose cone.
The only one they could get to fit was for a g16a and it arrived with a $400 price tag. So my question is. Have all my previous sierras, 96 coily 86 drover 85 lwb that shared the same starter pattern been odd from the other sierras or is the autoelecys book wrong?

Just get one from the wreckers, they will know if it will fit.

Thanks for the replies guys. The starter was for a sierra I checked the book too. I had a thought last night, why not take the nose cone off my old one and bolt it on the new starter so the bolt holes into the gearbox line up. I,ll let you know if it works out.
