Do you need a 4in lift? Again, you can run 36's with 3inch lift, and small trim on the guard.
Shortys suffer from viabrations and shit with 4in lifts.

I've never had problems with vibrations (other than the usual ones) with my 5 inch lift bogged but maybe i was lucky?. I guess if you do it correctly you should be right kane. make sure you get gearbox packers though.

Maybe you were.
Talk to many people, or even try a search and you can see that it is an issue with shortys. Check the archives on the GQ/patrol4wd lists and you will also see many people with hassles.
Its really a lottery - some have issues with 3inch others with 4+inch etc.
Very interested in this myself since there seems to be issues with some vehicles for even 2" kits needing castor bushes, but others only need it with 3". Likewise some need panhard rods for 4" and others don't.
Is it due to variation between build quality of the kits or build differences between the cars? I know some 2" lift kits on the suzi's measure from +30mm to +65mm.
I want to run 33" rubber which will be easy even with a 2" lift, but would like the longer springs and expected extra flex of a 3" kit so long as I can keep overall vehicle height under 2 meters.
2 meters means I can park it in my garage to work on and use most of the city carparks.... keeping it under 1.96m would be great.
Worth thinking about for that reason if nothing else.

I checked in the GQ bible and it doesn't really address my question verry well. I need to know what's needed/ what other people have done to over come the vibration and tailshaft angles. I already have:
-extended brake lines
-Adjustable panhard rods
and I am about to pick up some 4' springs and shocks.
Now I have heard about people attaching extra uni joints to the drive shafts, cross member packers, lifting the motor, ect,ect. all i need to know is what other people have done and what has worked for them. I am also trying to do it on a budget so high pinion rear diff, Calbah double carden shafts are out of the question. Any info would be much apprecated. Cheers, Kane.

Heres a bloke with hassles on a 2-3inch lift
After fitting a lift kit to my GQ short wheel base i had lots of vibration problems. Fitted transmission spacers, Poly Bushes as the old ones where shot and recently adjustable upper control arms. The vibration is much reduced now after fitting the control arms but i still have a vibration there.
While fiddling with the control arms it looks to me that the prop is going over to oneside on an angle. Which makes the pinion of centre. Takeing measurements it suggests that the axle is over to oneside by 15-20mm. Should this be the case? From what i can see in the manuals the prop should be straight. Would this be due to the lift (2.5-3"). Would an adjustable control arm bring it back into alignment and would this be the cause of my vibration.
I would like to cure this vibration as it drive so much better now than when standard plus i dont wnat to take the truck to a Workshop over here as they'll charge me a fortune per hour and probably not cure it.
