All 74 grey imports 24V?
Can't find any info eitherway... and was working on the basis the the grey 60's are. Does anyone know for certain or do I have to do a trip down Parramatta rd?
subscribe to the DTLC (Diesel Toyota Land Cruiser) email list and ask there, might get some more helpful answers. there are some guys in Japan on the list.
send a message to dtlc-request@helios.net with the word 'subscribe' in the message body.

Eh?? I am pretty sure there is no such thing as an IFS 80 series in any market. got pics?
Brian
EDIT: there is definitely no such thing as an IFS 80 series. your bloke is fibbing, or importing 100 series or 90 series.

hehehe ring through the nose. It's true, once you're married you're not allowed to have a 4WD.
Good thing I didn't pay any money and join a 4wd club then
isn't it past your bedtime?

TECH SCREW GURU
mysterious. will be interesting to see what they really are when he gets them here. it'd be hard to confuse any other cruiser shape (90s Prado or 100s) with the 80, the 80 shape is fairly distinctive - but I understand why people confuse 90s prados with 100s - similar headlight shape etc.
and sorry to MQ080 for hijacking this thread. but only a little bit sorry.

Nick,
Can you get some pics of these from your mate?
Sorry if this is stoopid, but are you SURE these are 24v? I have seen plenty of Jap maket drawings etc in workshop manuals that show dual batteries, but I always assumed these were for accessories/cranking in harsh winters/the teeeny little factory optional winch/etc.
There were even some dual battery hiluxes I think - I'm sure they're not 24v.

It's strange you ask that Gwagensteve because Toyota produce:
12V single bat. (80 series, etc. aust market)
12V dual bat. (100 series turbo aus market)
24V dual bat. (60 series, etc. Jap market)
all from factory. The reason why I ask my original question is to see if I can source a grey 74 that ISN'T 24V. But what i've found is both... 12 & 24V even in their own market! Very confusing

are we going to parramatta road tomorrow??
err today...
Yeah that's the thing, both are out there. But the next stage is just to do some leg work and see what equipment levels come with the 12v & 24v and if I missout on anything one way or the other it may make the decision much easier.
Hypothetically speaking, if the 24’s came with factory lockers at the same price as the 12volters are on the market at… you see what I’m getting at?
