What diffs? What motor?

wt diffs and stock 1.3 it'd probably go alright. 1l case is 12% lower, 31's will be about 12% bigger than std tyres.

Sounds good then huh ;) Should go like stock :)

regardless mate the difference in tyres and gearing should be nearly the same, ie it'll go like it does now. What you lose to the tyres you'll make up with the transfer ;)

Aerodynamics will be a bit worse at speed though :)

it probably is, if its standard...
I have a 1.3 motor driving 1.o litre t-case and diffs (4.11) ..it pulls 31's easily, so yours should be fine, christover

I think you would find that 31s are more then 12 percent bigger. my 29s with very little tread are 10% bigger according to the speedo. standard tyres are 26" I think. so a 31 with 2 1/2" bigger should bring total to increase to 5 inches. 26/5 x 100 = 19.23%

can anyone verify the high low percentages of the 1 liter case? Some people say its 12 percent reduction for high and low range and others say its 12% high and 30% low.

It depends on what your ratios are to start with...coily ratios may not be the same as wt sierra etc.. 12% lower on hi and lo is in reference to a standard 1.3 sierra t-case..maybe the coily has a higher low range than the Sierra???. just a guess.

Gwagonsteve I think you told me about the 30% lowrage reduction is it only when converting from coilly transfer cases? In which case would a normal 1.3 transfer case also result in a reduction.

a 410 t-case on a coily sierra/samurai gives 18,2% more reduction in low.
swapping the t/case is not a bolt in job and it is very likely that will cause a lot of vibes.at least this is what i found when i tried to put it on my jimny.

a 410 t/case on a WT sierra is bolt in, you only need to remove the handbrake drum from the 410 t/case and, in some cases, swap the flanges. it is only 10,7% more reduction in 4L though.

thanks. I know a person who has done the conversion on a coilly and he says that apart from it being noisier there wernt any other side effects.

probably noisier because it is gear driven instead of chain. What is involved to swap em over? Do mounts need to be changed? Do the shafts bolt up ok?

whats involved in swapping is different on coillys because the coilly transfer case is shorter so I would need prop shaft and jack shafts off a 1 liter. I dont know about bolt patterns though.
