RJ70 - petrol 22r
LJ70 - 2.4 turbo diesel. (pretty rare)

no BJ, 71, or 73.

Start with something that is in good nic and well looked after. Check along the roof lip part for rust or bog from old repairs. Alot of the ones i looked at had work done on that area.

Dont worry too much about km's on the engine... i have 300 thou on my petrol and its still going strong.... just as long as its well looked after.

Finally, i think they were made up to the early 90's but someone else may be able to confirm that.

Cool! I never classified mine as in the same league as a Phase 4 before!

My Bundera is, sorry was a diesel LJ70 soon to be an RJ38!
But as far as body goes its pretty clean! Under the windscreen is another place that they seem to rust. Just have a good look around them.
They drive pretty well just way underpowered <----just my opinion, dont take offense anyone else!
Cheers

I believe that they stopped making them in 91 or 92. They are pretty underpowerd but you can do some mods to improve and conversions similar to that of the Hiluxs. I have a 2.4TD and I have tweaked the turbo a little and I am looking to put a wrx top mount intercooler to increase the power still nothing to blow your mind but good enough for me.

....or you can dump the 22R completely and go the whole hog on a conversion.... then they can tend to be under braked rather than under powered!! (Mine has 75 series front brakes, but I would like to put disc brakes at the rear one day)....

I have had one bit of rust fixed in the roof gutter directly above the drivers door (it looked like it had been fixed before), also have seen them with some rust in the quarters behind the back wheels....

I love my Bundy.... Will be very very sad to see it go when the time comes to upgrade (Probably to a boring stocker '04 Prado).... Maybe I could keep it as a pet
Look at that.... it does fit!
