Post by turbo4t »

Can't move it anywhere. Tried driving around left and right, jacking the car to loosen the tailshafts etc. Any ideas?

my hilux got stuck few times, would reverse up a bit (couple of meters or so) and then could be persuaded to go out of h4. also think helps to reverse up bit of incline, cant remember exactly or why, but probably worth a try. reverse up, apply brakes then try to get lever to move, ie in reverse but clutch in

do know one time took gear knob off (and rubber boot but this was probably unnecessary) and slipped bit of pipe over it to "convince" it to out of h4. farken thing

anyway, hope this helps

cheers

Dont force it...
its a semi common problem with the shifter getting worn,
what you need to do is remove the boots, then undo the circlip ontop of the shifter and pop it out, then replace it back into the gates properly and it will be sweet.

mine does it every now and then most of the time when you really need it most and the fucker jumps out of the gates, takes only 10mins to fix when you know whats wrong

is this when end of shifter gets worn? plastic knob on the end isnt there. why i ask if this is reason case gets stuck, will this fix work for all other transfer case jams, esp my cruiser :)

i had a similar thing a little while ago. we removed the shifter to find that the tip had worn. we just rebuilt the tip by weld on the end and grinding it back to shape.

no there is now little plastie bit in the end of the transfer lever thats only on the gearbox shifter, the transfer stick has a funny shaped bit of metal on there and it sometimes wears away..
