latest TD6 and arb battery tray

Post by roly »

I had a bitch of a time fitting my ARB battery tray to my new 4.2 TDi ute. I rang my local ARb shop and they said no we gave you the right one, the 3.0 tray and 4.2TDi tray are the same.

Well on saturday i popped in to pickup some more toys from ARB and they had just had another new 4.2TDi ute in the shop for batteries. This time they fitted it and not the owner and a light bulb went on in Dave's head when the mechanic came to tell him the tray wouldnt fit...

It turns out nissan have made changes to the car and the tray will not fit, as both instances that I know of were utes they are unsure if its a recent td6 change or just a ute change, as the ute has a much stronger body incling extra inner paneels that you have to cut thru when doing a snorkle install.

Nissan have added a larger bracket to the header tank which has to be cut or removed totally for a battery tray to fit.

You also have to extend the header tank hose from the engine and remove another bracket which holds some anti pollution pipes.

I'll post pics..
