Shackle Reversal on MQ/MK

Post by 4WRNING »

Is this a simple and worthwhile doing on this model Patrol SWB, or any leaf sprung 4by...

Whats involved... Is it just unbolting switching and then rebolting, or is there cutting and welding to be done?

(sorry, but just dont have a leaf sprung vehicle in front of me to see whats involved...

Cheers!
Lee.

Dumbdance and I talked about doing this on my MQ. Advantages being there is heaps better ride as the diff isn't going against the bumps in the road as it does on the std set up. If your making custom mounts you can set them up for more flex and there is much better approach from the front.

From memory it's not all that simple... and i've never seen an example on the road.

Mate has done a shackle reversal on his MQ, he has redone it just recently, as he moved the spring mounting points, to the oposite ends, when set up the first time, he found that the front end actually dropped down even with extended shackles,

He has now made up a dropped front cross member with lowered the fonr hangers by 2" similar to what they do for hiluxes.

but it does drive alot better on road.
