GQ Streeing Wheel Wobble

Ive got a GQ swb with a 2 inch lift and 31ATs. Since the lift only expierienced the wobble rarely when braking at speed down a hill. It was very minor and would dissappear in a couple of seconds.
Suddenly its a lot worse, not loosing control but a lot more violent and lasts for a lot longer.

Havn't been off road or hit any gutters etc. Tyre preasure is O.K. and wheel nuts are tight. The steering dampner is a cheapy but its only six months old and hasn't a particularly hard life!
Would tyre balance do this?

Any ideas on why this wobble is suddenly worse?

ive got the same problem sorta, when braking the steering wheel is all over the place, but i got my tyres rebalanced and it still does it, grrrr

Had same problem.
Believed it to be a combination of a broken swaybar tie rod ball joint thingy.
(It just fell off one day :oops: ) and cactus caster bush rubbers .
Dunno which was causing the problem as I replaced both at the same time.
Some years ago I had the same problem with my Hot Rod. Would shake quite badly under brakes. Turned out to be a broken swaybar tie rod.
Fixed it and problem went away.
Dunno if that helps.

I had this a few weeks ago, when you hit the brakes around 50-65kph, it would shake, and got worse over time :(

Panhard bushes were SHOT.. replaced bushes, and now shakes are gone.

i think you can find them under a pile of rubbish at the back of 4wders sheds, that or installed under the car on all mallers and toorak tractors :lol:

I had same problem last year coming down conrod straight into caltex chase at 160ks in my GU on 35"s stood on brake pedal and everthing turned to shit thought I was gunna die right there, the missus was freaking out like mad. Drove back to caravan park and had a crap and a beer. Another great holiday memory. Ha ha ha :rofl:

i had the wobbles it were the wieghts on the wheel had fallen off,

i recently put in a 2inch lift and now i need a wheel alignment

Not long after i had fitted my lift the bolt at the bottom of the front panhard had worked loose. Started as a slight shake and with in one week had turned into a violent shudder. it loooked tight but still gave it 3/4 of a turn , probs solved

could b that easy :D

Give your wheel bearings a shake. found yesterday when drive over 60kays steering wheel started to earthquake! Checked wheel bearings and found em loose.

yeah seems like the same problem. where did you get bushes from and how much?

Yeah, mine does same thing when you hit a slight bump around 110k's, just take your foot off for a second and then go again seems to work for me, my GQ has recently had wheel bearings, and new castor correction bushes, panhards and the whole bloody lot done, its just GQ's they all do it to a certain degree from what I've heard. Mine's done 440,000k's and as far as I can remember it has always done it to a certain degree and I've noticed it in my folks GU a little bit too. :D
