Jackaroo replacements
See this link for possible Jackaroo replacements. Including a Rodeo wagon.

Rodeo wagon would be like a return to the Forerunner and Hilux in the 90s or Courier and Raider.

As far as I can see, the Equinox and Traiblazer due here in 2006 are just going to be rebadged Chevys. Hope they have diesel engine options (not that I'll be buying one anyway).

Hey now, the 'burb is awesome. Its just not very trail friendly. I just hope the trailblazer isn't platform for next trooper.

Well the Suburban bombed out here quite badly. Ugly boxy piece of useless crap.
Their isn't going to be a new trooper/Jackaroo. Isuzu isn't going to make them anymore from what I hear. Australia is going to get the Equinox and Trailblazer instead.
What are they like as 4x4s anyway?
In size, how do they compare to the Trooper? The Equinox looks like it is a smaller softroader. Trailblazer looks bigger but lower than Trooper.
Neither look like a genuine offroader.

they were too expensive. there should have been a ute version as well.
they seem to sell well as an import..... i know a few poeple making quite a good living selling these vehicles. i think they bombed because they were wagons only, not duel cab utes.

Your right about the ute thing. The F250 is making good sales. There are heaps more of these utes getting around than Suburbans. My work has two F250 XLT dual cab fourbies. In fact there is one in my driveway right now while I'mlifting my Rodeo.

Basically, they suck. They are about a foot longer in wheelbase. They sit a couple of inches lower. The inline 6 has awesome torque, but chasis is more of a cruiser. They come w/ all wheel drive and 4wd. You'll be disspointed. We call the Isuzu version the "ass ender". I won't specify reason, but we felt screwed when Isuzu replaced the trooper w/ such a piece of crap.
BTW< I really want to know what they are labeling the suburban down there. The suburban here is awesome. You can load everything you want, and have an Isuzu built duramax diesel under hood.

I read somewhere that Isuzu is cutting all ties with GM and going it alone. However they were going to refocus on cars and trucks only i.e. no recreational type 4wds. They also said that until their contracts with GM were finished they had to sell a GM 4wd as an Isuzu. Could this be the Ascender (I am assuming that is what an ass ender is?)
As for Suburban I think it is just not suited to the Australian market. Having driven an F250 in Australia I can tell you Austraia was not designed for such a big 4wd. It does not fit in most underground carparks, its turning circle and size pretty much excludes it from most carparks anyway. I have braved some car parks with it but you really have to think about where you are going and the real possibility that you won't be able to get an appropriate parking spot.
Our 4wd tracks don't really accomodate it. I have driven it on the beach and it is awesome but you take up the whole track getting it there and it would be pretty much impossible to pass another vehicle. All of our 4wd parks etc are designed for nothing bigger than a Toyota Landcruiser or Nissan Patrol. Even then it can be a bit of a squeeze.
Having said that though, the saving grace of the F250 is that it is a ute. They sell very well in the rural areas. We have two as I said. Some of the larger companies and Government departments are buying the single cab F250 instead of Landcruiser or Patrol utes. They will carry much more than their rated ton and tow anything without complaint.
So yes you can pack everything in it you could ever need but they don't go where we want to go and you can't park it if you can get there.
So I am not saying they are no good as such. They are just not suited to our conditions.

Sounds like a great idea this new Rodeo Wagon concept. But it would need a name change. Something that made it sound less agricultural and more family friendly. Would need a coil sprung rear? and the usual creature comforts. A poky V6 I've got it.. why don't they call it a FRONTERA
