i've just made an engine swap to my feroza and is generally running very nicely but today i noticed a very nasty thing. well..the engine is overheating. it seems that something with the cooling and this 'air-screw' [don't know exact word for this in english..] is not rolling but it's a bit suspicious.
i will check it tomorrow but it looked tragically today, the pointer almost hit its maximum while driving and i had to stop.
it's a bit strange also because the temperature is rising very, very fast and after 5 minutes since engine start, the heating pointer is getting to its top. any ideas why
if you had a similar problems i would appreciate your reply.

It could be the thermostat is stuck shut on the new engine. It's located in the block's water outlet housing just above the alternator.
Is the water pump OK too? And is the viscous hub on the radiator fan operating OK? (I take it that's the "air screw" you're talking about!?)
On a day below 20 degrees celsius you shouldn't really need the fan unless caught in traffic. I drove mine around for a couple of weeks without one fitted.

since he just did an engine swap... i wouldnt be surprised if his thermo is at least stuck, if not failing..... i had to readjust my thermo after swapping it over to the new block..... make sure you check everything... you need to also make sure your not LEAKING any fluids... if its not a sealed, encloused system, then the cooling system will overheat.....

david... from what i had understood from talking to various people, was that you have to be careful on how the thermostat sits inside of the housing of the block, if its slightly off and crooked to one side, it wont open all the way, also you have to be careful when using that liquid seal in order to create a gasket, since some of it could petrude a bit too far on the side of the housing and prevent the thermo from opening fully, or restricting water flow. pretty interesting how the smallest detail can throw it all off....
