My New GQ!

Post by BT1-PATROL »

Hey all,

Ive just purchased a 1988 GQ from Japan under the 15yr Import Rule!

1988 Nissan Safari Grand Road 4.2 litre diesel 4WD short wheel base
5 speed
123,000 kms
Black over silver
All power options and airconditioning
Central locking
Alloy wheels
Twin battery
Sunroof
Fog lights
Push bar
Winch

I tried to find a SWB diesel around here and its alomost impossible. What is one of these worth? I wanna keep it, but someone told me i could get a good price for it.....

Are there any diff from the aus version to the japan one?

Thanks

BT1

I bought mine for about 8k about 10 months ago.
Like you said, almost impossible to find which is why I didn't mind paying what may have been a bit extra.
My car had never done any 'hardcore' off roading (you could tell because everything was straight - even under the car) and was in pretty good condition. Dead standard though - no mods whatsoever.
It is the basic model so has power nothing.

Ask Robbie, he got one, think he paid $8kish.

Mate looked into importing these for a few bucks, it wasnt worth his while and he does this chit for a job.

YMMV

Aussie ones have the safety recals done, ie brake lines, front panhard reinforcing etc.
Aussie ones also have intrusion beams in doors.

Prestigemotorsport

~$12500
No compliance needed as its older than 15yr

There are plenty of LWB models, but have seen very few swb's thats why i picked it up straight away

You new truck is actuially a 24V system, which means you run 24 volt lights and the like, you will soon leanri about ti, when you hook up 12 volt lights, it will pay to do some research.

Your truck is a 24V jobbie, just like the majority here in NZ.....a number of the gauges in the dash are still 12V though. Can't recall which ones, but the info is in the yahoo Patrol or GQPatrol forum archives.

Be careful, most registering authorities are asking for engineering certificates for vehicles which fall under second and third ADR editions to make sure they do comply. They just don't have to go through the system the ubder 15 year old vehicle have to.
Don't ask me, ask them. I'm just runnin for my life myself.
Well they are all following you...
No they ain't, I'm just in front...............
