When I start the GQ, the power light on the dash, flashes about 16 times just after starting the car. It will the turn off, or stay on, according to the position of the power button.
Does anyone know what this code means?
Pete

i borrowed a workshop manual, a haynes one, and checked mine. it was a line pressure solenoid. nearly $400 to buy, plus fitting. went to wholesale auto trans , fitted his extreme valve body, with new solenoids. less than a grand drive away, with a tranny service!! now it shifts great, heaps better than before. drives like a whole new car.

flashing 16 times you might find it could be your tps switch more importantly have you had a engine conversion you say it runs like shit try disconecting you tps switch if its a carby model its located on the side of the carby if it is a fuel injected its on the throttle body disconnect it see if it runs the same there are two harnesses take one off a a time and test one at a time

Hi Guys it's Rodney here. I had one the other day and could not find what the 16 flashes meant. If it's the carbie model you can't even plug my computer in and extract the codes as there is no interface. What I found was this is the code when the ECU looses all control of the transmission. With ours we found that one of the plugs that runs up from the transmission wasn't making connection. In this case it was our own fault after fitting a reco transmission and had jammed part of the rubber seal stuck between the terminals when connected. Disconnect all the plugs one by one cleaning them with carbie clean or dry solvent of some sort and blowing them out and reconnecting them. You can also try a borrowed computer to see if it is within the ETC ( Electronic Transmission Control ). It is in the passenger side kick panel and takes about 5 minutes to remove. Mast be with same make and model engine configuration. Just thought I would let you know what we had last time we had a 16 Flash.

Rodney

in the haynes manual i borrowed, it had a sequence for getting the light to flash, not just on start up. it also had what the flashes meant in it. maybe someone on here has a manual?
brake cleaner works best, as it is the same chemical as contact cleaner.
